The leadership of the school must maintain a laser like focus on creating and maintaining a CollegeGoing Academic School Culture of Efficacy. With high quality academic instruction for scholars with disabilities as the primary focus the Reading Specialist directly supports the mission of Statesmen Academy for Boys and the Director of Instruction by ensuring that the literacy program used by Statesmen is accessible to all Students with Disabilities English Language Learners and Struggling Learners through the coordination of curriculum programming as well as small group and oneonone conferencing.

The Reading Specialist will have three primary bodies of work that are designed to support a vibrant literacy program as well as rigorous and relevant literacy instruction.

The person best suited for this role is a learningoriented and inspirational teacher with a desire to use literacy as a way to impact the overall academic experience of underserved students. You will be an effectual and high performing teacher looking to support the development of other teachers. The best candidates will have an advanced degree and a track record of creating high levels of academic growth within populations of students with significant potential and limited experience of prior academic success especially Students with Disabilities English Learners AtRisk students and Struggling Learners.
