Job Description

SENCo Reputable Secondary School in Newcastle

We are pleased to partner with a wellregarded secondary school in Newcastle recognized for its commitment to inclusive education and student wellbeing. They are seeking an experienced and passionate Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) to join their dedicated team in a fulltime permanent capacity starting ASAP.

Position Summary

The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring that students with special educational needs receive the support and resources they require to thrive academically and personally. This position offers the opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of young people and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the schools Special Educational Needs (SEN) provision.
  • Develop and implement effective SEN policies and procedures in line with current legislation and best practices.
  • Oversee the assessment and identification of students with SEN ensuring timely and appropriate interventions.
  • Collaborate with teachers support staff parents and external agencies to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of SEN provision making recommendations for improvement as needed.
  • Provide training and support to staff on SENrelated matters.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching certification.
  • National Award for Special Educational Needs Coordination (NASENCO) or willingness to work towards it.
  • Significant experience working with students with a range of special educational needs.
  • Indepth knowledge of SEN legislation and best practices.
  • Excellent communication leadership and organizational skills.
