A Program Controls Specialist at Los Angeles Unified School District is responsible for a variety of tasks related to cost and budget control data management and reporting within a project control system. They identify and implement best practices coordinate the development of project control tools and support decisionmaking by interfacing with senior specialists and managers. Their role involves detailed data analysis to ensure accuracy recommending policy changes to improve project delivery and organizing data for timely reporting. They develop metrics and reports create new processes for budgets and schedules and provide documentation support. Additionally they support internal and external audits review project budget and scope changes and troubleshoot projectspecific issues.
The position requires six years of professional experience in project controls including planning budgeting estimating forecasting scheduling and reporting with at least three years in a similar role within a government agency or infrastructure projects using advanced project control tools like Oracle Primavera and Timberline Gold Job Cost & Accounting System. A bachelors degree in Engineering Construction Management Information Technology Finance/Accounting or Business Administration is required although candidates can compensate for the education requirement with equivalent experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential. The role also demands excellent written and verbal communication skills superior organizational and planning abilities and the capacity to build efficient working relationships with project teams and department staff.
