Job Description
Job Title:DOC Exception Network Engineer
Client: Commonwealth of PA 2
Location: Onsite Greater Harrisburg/ Mechanicsburg
Central PA Area
NOTE: This is an onsite position and required US citizen.
Certification: Must have CCNP certification.
Job Summary:
This role is situated within the Edge Networking team of the Bureau of Infrastructure under the Pennsylvania Office of Administration (OA). The primary purpose of this position is to deliver network support for edge networks serving various Commonwealth of Pennsylvania agencies.
Job Requirements:
- The selected candidate will be tasked with providing technical support for the planning maintenance and integration of local and wide area network infrastructure.
- They will contribute to the deployment of edge networking technologies across the Enterprise.
- Effective communication skills and handson networking experience are essential.
- A CCNA certification is preferred but substantial handson experience may substitute for certification.
Description of Duties:
- Network Installation and Maintenance:
- Install configure and maintain network infrastructure including switches routers SDWAN edge appliances wireless infrastructure cellularbased appliances and associated hardware and software.
Network Management:
- Utilize industry tools to monitor test verify troubleshoot and resolve network issues by collaborating with users service providers and business partners.
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in using Cisco CLI; assist with deployments upgrades and change management within the edge networking group.
- Troubleshooting:Resolve edge networking trouble tickets or incidents and ensure they are documented in Service Now.
- Pilot and New Technologies:Assist in the rollout of new network technology applications and evaluate new and emerging technologies.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain documentation of network components create Visio diagrams and participate in Service Now ticket resolution and reporting.
Network Design and Security:
- Participate in designing complex networks make recommendations to optimize efficiency and ensure networks meet security requirements.
- Support and Communication:Provide support for remote IT staff agency operations and business partners. Communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
ADA Requirements:
- Equipment Usage: Use personal computers servers network components and other office equipment.
- Must be able to lift to 50 pounds and work from a step ladder.
Job Location:
- Telework Option: This position offers parttime telework flexibility as well as the option to work from an office setting within a Commonwealthowned facility. Candidates must reside in the Greater Harrisburg/Mechanicsburg/Central PA area.
Essential Functions:
- CJIS Clearances: Obtain and maintain CJIS clearances.
- Communication: Operate telephones and cell phones effectively.
- Technical Proficiency: Operate PCs servers and network components.
- Physical Capability: Lift equipment up to 40 pounds.
- ProblemSolving: Assess issues and make appropriate decisions for resolution.
- Continued Learning: Stay updated with networkrelated trends and technologies.
- Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service.
