Job Description

Large Milwaukee food manufacturer is looking to hire a Quality Manager to be responsible for food safety for the entire plant. The Quality Manager will also direct the preparation and training efforts for the SQF Code. The ideal candidate is detailed oriented strong with managing audits and a creative member of the management team. This is a direct hire position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE QUALITY MANAGER:
  • Responsible for overseeing and supporting implementation of food safety and quality programs.
  • Formulates and maintains quality assurance objectives complementary to corporate policies and goals.
  • Reviews all data obtained during all quality assurance activities to ensure consistency with company policies and procedures.
  • Keeps management team abreast of significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and actions being taken to improve the situation.
  • Prepares and presents technical and program information to the management team.
  • Directs technical and administrative workers engaged in quality assurance activities.
  • Investigates and resolves customer complaints regarding quality.
  • Oversees the development implementation review and maintenance of the SQF Systems including food safety fundamentals the food safety plan and the food quality plan.
  • Develop and/or approve relevant SOP s and Work Instructions for production quality assurance sanitation and maintenance departments.
  • Manage quality personnel delegate work assignments conduct performance evaluations on a timely basis coach mentor and provide guidance to personnel.
  • Develop and train all employees in regards to GMP s Allergens HACCP MSDS and quality employees in the SQF Code. Ensure proper documentation.
  • Remain current on industry standards to ensure ongoing improvement of methods and processes.
  • Create/foster a positive work environment.
  • Ensure that personnel are following company safety procedures. Report all incidents/injuries in a timely manner


Requirements

REQUIREMENTS OF THE QUALITY MANAGER:
  • Education and/or Experience: Bachelor s degree (BS or BA) with coursework in the Food Sciences or other related field. 35 years of progressive related experience in a QA/QC environment.
  • Must have proven knowledge of HACCP process implementation and training in addition to a comprehensive understanding of Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP); (FDA Title 21 CFR). Safe Quality Foods (SQF) Practitioner Certification required.
  • Ability to read analyze and interpret general business periodicals professional journals and technical procedures. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from peers subordinates customers and clients
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete and nonconcrete variables.
  • Requires superior interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with employees staff management etc.
  • Must possess superior organizational skills and be able to prioritize and work simultaneously on several projects.
  • Ability to effectively coach monitor and discipline employees.
  • Ability to operate within a team atmosphere.
  • Ability to initiate coordinate and enforce operational personnel policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to work in a fastpaced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Analytical and mathematical skills
  • Reliable organized and attentive to detail
  • Moderate computer skills including communicating internally and externally via email performing some financial calculations generating reports and proficient at using business systems.
  • Ability to comprehend verbal communication read and comprehend written communications reports and schematics. Ability to give verbal and written communications to management subordinates customers and vendors. Ability to make presentations for oneonone or groups.
  • Ability to perform basic math complex algebraic and other computations.
