Responsibilities:

  • Assist the SLP with speech language and hearing screenings (without interpretation)
  • Follow individual educational plans (IEP) or protocols developed by the SLP
  • Document student performance (e.g. tallying data for the speechlanguage pathologist to use; preparing charts records and graphs) and report this information to the supervising SLP
  • Assist the SLP during the assessment of students
  • Assist with informal documentation as directed by the SLP
  • Assist with clerical duties such as preparing materials and scheduling activities as directed by the SLP
  • Perform checks and maintenance of equipment
  • Support the SLP with projects inservice training and public relations programs
  • Assist with special education departmental operations (scheduling record keeping safety/maintenance of supplies and equipment)
  • Provide speech and language therapy and collect data for the SLP
  • Exhibit compliance with regulations reimbursement requirements and SLPAs job responsibilities and scope of practice
  • Apply appropriate safety and confidentiality procedures
  • Serve as a member of the instructional team of the District; perform related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position

Qualifications:

  • Speech Language Pathology Assistant Degree OR BA degree in Communication Disorders
  • Experience working with schoolaged children
  • Satisfactory background clearance results (fingerprinting required)
  • CPR & first aid cards may be required
  • DOH Certification which includes 30 hours of CEU/3 years
