Job Description

Job Title: Senior Structural Engineer

Location: London (Central)

Industry: Construction Industry

Salary: (up to) Negotiable

About the Role:

JMS Group employ 50 staff undertaking civil & structural engineering designs and has been serving the Construction Industry for over 25 years.

We have an opening for a Senior Structural Engineer to join our team at our London (Central) office to undertake designs on a variety of projects from small domestic extensions to large multistorey apartment and office developments. Working alongside colleagues within the local office as well as those in other parts of the Group you will be encouraged to develop your design experience and skills and be supported to obtain accreditation to the Institute of Structural Engineers.

With project costs up to 12m and the use of the latest design software the role offers an exciting opportunity to engage in impactful highvalue projects. A competitive salary will be offered commensurate with the importance of this role within our company.

JMS Group is part of the Structural Engineering Alliance Group (SEAG) a collective of esteemed engineering firms each distinguished in its respective field united by a shared vision of pioneering progress.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead an Engineering cost centre(s) for our London office.
  • Use latest design software to create and manage structural designs.
  • Liaise with key clients and discuss design/technical solutions with team members and stakeholders.
  • Ensure projects are appropriately resourced delegating work to team members programming deliverables and monitoring progress.
  • Provide support and guidance to junior staff fostering their development and progression.
  • Prepare calculations drawings details specifications and reports for a wide range of structures and materials
  • Implement Company policies and ensure adherence across your team.
  • Monitor and oversee project budgets and staff resources for projects undertaken.
  • Develop existing customer relationships and promote JMSs services.
  • Assist in achieving targeted revenues from current and new customers.

Qualifications:

  • Chartered Engineer status (CEng) would be advantageous
  • Bachelors degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent (Masters degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in structural engineering.
  • Proven track record of cost estimation and project management.
  • Prior experience working with historic buildings is highly desirable.
