Job Description

Job Title: IT Field Technician
Job Location: Loving NM
Interview: Virtual
Job Duration: 6 Months

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Field Network Infrastructure and Well Communications.
  • Gaining a solid understanding of basic Oil & Gas operations.
  • Serving as the IT liaison with Operations fostering and maintaining strong relationships within the Business Unit (BU).
  • Facilitating the implementation of new SCADA systems at production facilities by ensuring connectivity for process control and data collection.
  • Developing IT training materials and knowledge articles for BU operations to address TCOMrelated issues.
  • Troubleshooting complex network issues by analyzing peertopeer communication on the field network using packet capture techniques.
  • Utilizing cable and RF test equipment such as spectrum analyzers.
  • Communicating planned changes to the field network clearly and understanding their potential impact on Oil & Gas operations.
  • Managing and assigning IP addresses/DNS for all networkconnected devices in new facility builds.
  • Coordinating and overseeing capital projects within the BU adhering to L48 and BU safety policies and guidelines.
  • Monitoring and providing network performance metrics to BU Operations and IT leadership.
  • Managing emergency power generators maintaining site cleanliness and ensuring site security for all tower locations.
  • Overseeing Process Control Networks (PCN) that utilize IT infrastructure critical to maintaining Oil & Gas production.

Provide SecondLevel Field Support for Various Wireless Technologies:

  • Pointtopoint and pointtomultipoint microwave technologies (licensed and unlicensed).
  • Multiple carrierconnected cellular systems.
  • 802.11 WiFi.
  • Land mobile radio systems (LMR).
  • Communications to SCADA RTUs/PLCs SCADA Data Collectors and Electrical Reclosers/Relays.

Basic/Required Qualifications:

  • 1 years of experience with various wireless technologies including pointtomultipoint pointtopoint mesh and 802.11 WiFi.
  • 1 years of experience with Ethernet switching and routing.
  • 1 years of experience with Cisco IOS command line.
  • 1 years of experience troubleshooting using the OSI model.
  • 1 years of experience with DNS DHCP and IP addressing/subnetting.
  • 1 years of experience with CAT network cabling including termination and troubleshooting.
  • 1 years of experience with fiber cabling.
  • Knowledge and experience with DC/AC power solutions and sizing including 12VDC 24VDC 48VDC and 120VAC.
  • Willingness to travel overnight to other COP locations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CCNA or equivalent certification in Routing and Switching.
  • 1 years of experience with packet capture software.
  • 1 years of experience with SNMPbased monitoring software.
  • Bachelors degree or higher in Business Administration/Management Computer Science Engineering Information Technology Management Information Systems or a related field.
  • 3 years of experience supporting enterprise networking including telecom circuits.
  • 1 years of experience with ServiceNow (Incident/Asset/Change Management).
  • Experience with manufacturers such as Aviat Cambium ABB Tropos Sierra Wireless GE Orbit Cradlepoint and Motorola UHF radio systems.
  • Experience with linkprofiling and RF propagation software.
  • Experience in microwave (licensed and unlicensed) MASSCADA Private LTE LoRaWAN IoT land mobile tower structures and FCC/FAA regulations related to these technologies.
  • Familiarity with existing and emerging cellular technologies.
  • Experience in microwave link design planning and troubleshooting.
  • Working knowledge of parts 90 and 101 of CFR47 (FCC regulations).
  • Report writing experience.
  • SCADA systems experience.
  • Experience with serial communications including RS232 and RS485.
  • A team player capable of working collaboratively across mixed disciplines including field operations I&E contractors and corporate engineering groups to provide reliable communications for the business.
  • Excellent verbal and technical written communication skills.
  • A selfmotivated individual committed to continuous learning.
  • A passion for excelling in nextgeneration technologies and staying abreast of new and advancing technologies.
