As the Director of Nursing you will oversee our facilitys nursing program ensuring compliance with the Nurse Practice Act state and federal regulations and our policies and procedures. Your leadership will directly impact the quality of care we provide as you work closely with staff to create a supportive and efficient environment that prioritizes patient wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily rounds to ensure the highest quality of care is maintained.
- Manage key functions such as hiring disciplining and evaluating nursing staff.
- Lead the interview and hiring process for new nursing staff.
- Organize and lead meetings and committees focused on resident care issues.
- Review payroll time sheets for accuracy and compliance.
- Develop systems to maintain and enhance clinical competencies among nursing staff.
- Participate in the recruitment retention and development of nursing staff.
- Identify training needs and implement programs to address them.
- Conduct studies to evaluate the effectiveness of nursing services.
- Oversee the nursing departments budget ensuring expenses stay within approved limits.
- Address and resolve concerns from residents families and employees.
- Ensure timely completion of competency evaluations and performance reviews.
- Participate in employee recognition programs to boost morale and engagement.
- Address survey or care standard issues proactively.
- Develop and manage staffing schedules to ensure adequate coverage.
- Guide the professional development of nursing staff to advance their skills and careers.
- Collect and compile data for reports ensuring timely submission.
- Participate in our facilitys Performance Improvement Program to enhance care quality.
- Ensure compliance with all clinical protocols and nursing policies.
- Assume full responsibility for the facility in the absence of the Administrator.
Qualifications:
- RN Licensed in Michigan (required)
- Three years of experience as a Director of Nursing Assistant Director of Nursing or equivalent supervisory role (required)
- BSN from an accredited school of nursing (preferred)
- Valid CPR certification (required)
- Strong experience in longterm care as a Director of Nursing (preferred)
- Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to interact at all levels of the organization.
- Quick and decisive problemsolving abilities especially in emergencies.
- Proficient in organizing and prioritizing tasks.
- Knowledge of training techniques for clinical staff and a commitment to ongoing education.
- Strong understanding of the Nurse Practice Act state and federal regulations.
