Lab Technician

We are looking for a highly motivated and talented lab technician to join our team at the VIBUGent Center for Inflammation Research focusing on understanding the molecular mechanisms involved in the progression of sepsis. In more detail the team of Prof. Dr. Claude Libert is investigating metabolic reprogramming during sepsis and is also interested in the hostpathogen interplay between microbes of the gut and the Paneth cells in the ileum. The selected candidate will work alongside 5 postdocs 7 PhD students and 4 lab technicians.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with PhD students and postdoctoral researchers to study the molecular mechanisms involved in sepsis across different tissues using a range of mouse models.
• Perform in vivo experiments including the handling care and manipulation of mice.
• Execute a variety of wetlab experiments including molecular biology techniques like PCR RNA isolation cDNA synthesis qPCR Western blotting ELISA.
• Maintain detailed and accurate records of experimental procedures data and results.

Profile

Essential

• Bachelors degree Biomedical Laboratory Technology preferably with a major in Farmaceutical and Biological Laboratory Technology or equivalent
• FELASA B
• Fluent in Dutch and English for both written and oral communication
• Experience working with mice including intravenous and intra peritoneal injections.
• Knowledge of working in a lab (health and safety)
• Previous experience working in a lab (placements during degree studies are sufficient)
• Basic computer skills (text processing spreadsheet presentations)
• Enthusiastic team player

Desirable but not required

• Experience in molecular biology techniques
• Basic understanding of inflammation metabolism
