Job Description

Migration from RedHat 6 to 8 version.

Were looking for a jack of all trades.

A wellrounded engineer who can quickly perform the job. The job requires shifting working software where is no active development planned from one OS to another OS.

It might require coding as OS specifics might change but the main job is to plan and execute the move in a riskfree manner (it is a trading environment).

It requires gathering the knowledge scattered throughout the organization creating a plan identifying stakeholders executing tests executing and monitoring the shift and reacting to production issues.

It is a mix of DevOps/SRE with a C developer with good communication skills.

The suitable candidate should be able to:

  • Discover and explain the existing architecture to determine the impact radius of the upgrade work and releases.
  • Navigate log files and read code to debug the deployment figure out the correct configuration etc.
  • Come up with a migration plan for the system to a newer version considering rollback downtime failover etc.
  • Work on a system that has no one expert and piece information by talking to various people with disconnected expertise.
  • Comfortably work on Unix systems and ideally read C code.
