Job Description:
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for overseeing and managing a wide range of accounting duties ensuring accuracy in financial reporting and providing critical support in financial planning and analysis. This role requires strong analytical skills a deep understanding of accounting principles and the ability to lead accounting projects and mentor junior staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the general accounting functions including but not limited to accounts payable accounts receivable general ledger and taxes.
- Prepare review and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
- Conduct monthend and yearend close processes including account reconciliations journal entries and variance analysis.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets forecasts and financial reports providing insightful analysis and recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal state and local laws as well as internal policies and procedures.
- Lead the coordination and preparation of external audits and tax filings.
- Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
- Mentor and support junior accounting staff providing guidance and ensuring accuracy in their work.
- Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support strategic initiatives.
- Participate in the implementation of new accounting systems or software ensuring seamless integration and process improvements.
- Continuously identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency in financial management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field.
- CPA certification is strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 57 years of progressive accounting experience with at least 3 years in a senior accounting or supervisory role.
- Thorough knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and financial reporting.
- Strong proficiency in accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks SAP Oracle) and advanced Excel skills.
- Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Excellent analytical organizational and problemsolving skills.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy.
- Exceptional communication skills both written and verbal with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly.
- Experience with financial audits and tax preparation.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with a collaborative approach to problemsolving.
- Experience in manufacture construction or agriculture is a plus.
