Job Description:
The Senior Tax Accountant will be responsible for managing and overseeing the companys tax reporting and compliance. You will work closely with the finance team to ensure that all taxrelated activities are conducted in accordance with the latest regulations and best practices. This role requires deep tax knowledge analytical skills and the ability to manage complex tax issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and review federal state and local tax returns to ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations.
- Manage and oversee the companys tax filings including income property sales and payroll taxes.
- Conduct thorough research on tax issues and provide recommendations to optimize tax positions.
- Ensure compliance with all tax reporting and payment deadlines.
- Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations ensuring the companys practices are up to date.
- Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual tax provision calculations in accordance with ASC 740.
- Analyze financial statements and prepare taxrelated financial reports.
- Manage and respond to tax audits and inquiries from tax authorities.
- Identify opportunities for tax savings and develop strategies to minimize tax liabilities.
- Collaborate with external tax advisors and auditors as needed.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior tax accounting staff.
- Support the finance team in budgeting and forecasting related to tax expenses.
- Participate in special projects such as mergers acquisitions and other strategic initiatives from a tax perspective.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field.
- CPA certification is required; advanced tax qualifications (MST) are preferred.
- Minimum of 57 years of experience in tax accounting with a focus on corporate tax.
- Strong knowledge of federal state and local tax laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in tax preparation software (Thomson Reuters CCH) and advanced Excel skills.
- Experience with ASC 740 and tax provision calculations.
- Strong analytical and problemsolving skills with the ability to manage complex tax issues.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal with the ability to explain complex tax concepts to nontax professionals.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a teamoriented environment.
