Overview
The CAD Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing the development and implementation of critical electrical designs using AutoCAD. They are responsible for managing and leading the CAD team ensuring the efficient creation and maintenance of accurate drawings and providing technical support for design projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the CAD team providing guidance and technical expertise
- Oversee the creation modification and maintenance of electrical design drawings using AutoCAD
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to ensure design specifications are met
- Supervise the implementation of standard drawing practices and ensure adherence to quality standards
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance for CAD software and design projects
- Manage and prioritize project deadlines and allocate resources effectively
- Develop and optimize CAD processes and workflows to enhance efficiency
- Train and mentor CAD staff in best practices and software utilization
- Stay updated on industry trends and technologies related to electrical design and CAD software
- Participate in project meetings to review designs schedules and project status
- Coordinate with external vendors and consultants for specialized design needs
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and process enhancements
- Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards in design documentation
- Manage the documentation and filing of design drawings and associated records
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering ComputerAided Design or related field
- Proven experience in AutoCAD Electrical design and drafting with a strong understanding of electrical systems
- Demonstrated expertise in project management and leadership of CAD teams
- Indepth knowledge of relevant electrical codes standards and design practices
- Proficiency in technical documentation and drawing control
- Excellent problemsolving skills and the ability to troubleshoot CADrelated issues
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with crossfunctional teams
- Experience in training and mentoring CAD staff in software utilization and best practices
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines
- Knowledge of 3D modeling and simulation tools is a plus
- Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modeling) and its integration with CAD software
- Understanding of electrical components schematics and wiring diagrams
- Adherence to industry best practices for data management and security
- Certifications in AutoCAD or related software applications are desirable
- Experience in the industrial or manufacturing sector is a plus
