Job Title: Middle School Math Teacher

Location: Berkeley IL

Position Overview: The school is seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable Middle School Math Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in mathematics and a passion for teaching middle school students. The Middle School Math Teacher will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective math instruction fostering a positive classroom environment and supporting students in achieving academic success.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Instructional Planning and Delivery:

   • Develop and implement lesson plans that align with state standards and district curriculum guidelines.
   • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students including differentiated instruction and handson activities.
   • Incorporate technology and other resources to enhance the learning experience and engage students in the subject matter.

2. Classroom Management:

   • Establish and maintain a positive and productive classroom environment conducive to learning.
   • Implement effective classroom management techniques to promote student engagement and minimize disruptions.
   • Foster a respectful and inclusive classroom culture where all students feel valued and supported.

3. Assessment and Progress Monitoring:

   • Assess student understanding and mastery of mathematical concepts through formative and summative assessments.
   • Use data from assessments to inform instructional decisions and provide targeted support to students who are struggling.
   • Communicate student progress to parents guardians and school administration regularly.

4. Collaboration:

   • Work collaboratively with other teachers support staff and administrators to ensure the success of all students.
   • Participate in professional learning communities (PLCs) and contribute to the development of schoolwide instructional strategies and goals.
   • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in math education and middle school instruction.

5. Student Support and Engagement:

   • Provide extra help and support to students outside of regular class time as needed including tutoring and afterschool programs.
   • Encourage student participation in mathrelated extracurricular activities such as math clubs or competitions.
   • Build positive relationships with students to support their academic and personal growth.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics Education or a related field.
• Valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a Middle School Math endorsement.
• Experience teaching math at the middle school level is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of mathematical concepts and effective instructional strategies.
• Excellent communication collaboration and classroom management skills.
• Commitment to fostering a positive learning environment and supporting the diverse needs of middle school students.
