We are seeking an entry level Protection & Control Design Engineer who will be primarily responsible for a wide variety of transmission generation and distribution projects involving protection and control and physical design drawings. These include protection and control and physical design projects that range from new substations to brownfield installations. This position will be responsible for working independently as well as within a team to complete all projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Be responsible for the design and quality control of system protection and control projects for utility substations. This includes onelines threelines AC/DC schematics wiring diagrams panel layouts bill of material etc.
Be responsible for the design and quality control of physical design projects for utility substations. This includes electrical plans and profiles grounding plans and details conduit and raceway layouts/details/schedules Bills of Material and calculations such as voltage drop conduit fill breaker sizing etc.
Interface with internal and external team members such as Principal Engineers Project Engineers Electrical Designers Physical Designers Draftsmen Project Managers outside contractors and support organizations.
Work with a team to meet project specifications cost control and schedule objectives.
Interact with clients and take a leadership role in assigned aspects of the projects.
Be involved with project site evaluations and preparing engineering scope.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & SKILLS
Ability to recognize relay onelines threelines control schematics wiring diagrams etc.
Ability to travel up to 10%.
Excellent interpersonal oral and written communication skills.
Strong computer and software skills.
Exceptional organizational skills.
High attention to detail.
B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent work experience.
Minimum of 1year related industryexperience preferred.
