Data Engineer

We are a Berlinbased startup that has successfully established a leading B2B marketplace for industrial metals across Europe.

The multibillioneuro metal trading industry is operated on Excel PDF and Email. We are on a mission to transform buying and selling in one of the oldest industries of the modern world with seamless and intuitive digital solutions. Our technologies increase liquidity accelerate transactions reduce scrapping rates and enhance buying convenience for hundreds of steel and metal distributors across Europe.

As a lean team of young international and passionate talents weve recently reached breakeven and are gearing up for the next phase of growth. We are looking for an outstanding individual who wants to join an exciting early stage startup as a Data Engineer to work closely with our senior management and a highly motivated team.

Tasks

As a Data Engineer you will join the team fulltime and support the Data Team in providing data insights to the broader organizations. Specifically you will:

• Design develop and implement data pipelines for ingesting transforming and loading data from various sources into our data warehouse.
• Define the vision and objectives for data products by working closely with product and data team members
• Develop and maintain SQL queries for data extraction transformation and analysis.
• Work with Google Cloud to provision and manage data storage compute resources and containerized applications.
• Write code in scripting languages (e.g. Python Bash) to automate data engineering tasks.
• Collaborate with data analysts data scientists and software engineers to ensure data quality and accessibility.
• Develop highperforming and insightful dashboards by providing necessary data infrastructure.
• Document data pipelines schemas and procedures.
• Stay uptodate on the latest data engineering and cloud technologies.

Requirements

• 2 years of professional experience in data engineering field including building data pipelines
• Strong expertise in relational databases including design and performance tuning.
• Experience with Google Cloud for data storage compute resources and services.
• Proficiency in SQL for data extraction transformation and analysis.
• Proficiency in Python; knowledge of JavaScript Bash and PowerShell is a plus.
• Ability to process and analyze data effectively to drive insights and action
• Exceptional attention to detail ensuring high standards are maintained across all tasks
• University degree in Computer Science Mathematics Physics or a related area
• Experience with Looker Tableau or other dashboarding tools
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in English
