Job Description

Relocation: No Must live a commutable distance to Melville or Long Island NY

The estimators primary responsibility is to prepare construction estimates that focus on environmental and fuel facility related projects. The estimator is responsible to analyze projects create take offs utilize subcontractors/suppliers and collaborate with staff in order to produce an accurate and complete estimate.

  • Create accurate take offs for all phases of construction using material costs and labor breakdowns.
  • Obtain prices from vendors and subcontractors for materials equipment and services.
  • Perform site visits and attends bid walks and prebid conferences as needed to determine site constraints logistics etc.
  • Responsible for proposal writing functions ensuring estimates are consistent wellwritten and complete.
  • Attend and contribute to weekly estimating meetings.
  • Hold estimating transfer meetings for all awarded projects with the construction team.
  • Contact clients customers and government representatives to discuss items relevant to the proposed work.

Qualifications

  • Experience managing a Construction Management team reporting to ownership
  • Oversee all new and current Subcontractor relations and communicate the status of projects effectively between vendors subcontractors etc.
  • Develop and manage Division budgets for the Construction Dept.
  • Provide detailed reports that will include breakdowns of project costs and forecasts of remaining costs.
  • Documents data and statistical procedures to provide cost analysis and reporting to assist Ownership in decisionmaking or other financial initiatives.
  • Conduct periodic performance reviews with individuals within the Construction Division.
  • Ensure employee compliance with all company policies
  • Manage individual team members (office staff) with focus lists
