Job Description

Job Summary: The Professor of Computer Science and Engineering is responsible for delivering highquality instruction advancing research in the field developing innovative curricula and contributing to the growth and success of the department and institution. This role includes teaching undergraduate and graduate courses conducting cuttingedge research mentoring students and colleagues and participating in departmental and institutional service activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Teaching and Instruction:
    • Develop and deliver engaging and rigorous lesson plans and lectures for undergraduate and graduate courses in computer science and engineering.
    • Create and assess assignments projects and examinations to evaluate and enhance student learning outcomes.
    • Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment that encourages student participation and success.
  2. Research and Scholarly Activities:
    • Conduct original research in computer science and engineering aiming for highimpact publications in peerreviewed journals and conferences.
    • Secure research funding through grants and collaborations with industry or academic partners.
    • Present research findings at conferences workshops and seminars and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field.
  3. Curriculum Development:
    • Design and update course curricula to reflect the latest advancements and trends in computer science and engineering.
    • Develop and introduce new courses or programs that align with industry needs and academic standards.
    • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure that curricula are comprehensive relevant and integrated with institutional goals.
  4. Mentoring and Advising:
    • Provide academic and career guidance to students including advising on research. Projects internships and career planning.
    • Mentor junior faculty and staff offering support and guidance on research teaching and professional development.
    • Supervise graduate students research and thesis projects fostering their academic and professional growth.
  5. Departmental and Institutional Service:
    • Contribute to departmental governance through committee participation strategic planning and policy development.
    • Engage in institutional activities such as faculty meetings accreditation processes and community outreach.
    • Promote the department and institution through involvement in professional organizations and public engagement.
  6. Professional Development:
    • Stay current with advancements in computer science and engineering through continuous learning attending conferences and participating in professional networks.
    • Pursue opportunities for personal and professional growth including advanced certifications and training relevant to the field.


Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. In Computer Science Computer Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Proven track record of excellence in teaching including experience with diverse instructional methods and technologies.
  • Strong record of research productivity with publications in highimpact journals and conferences.
  • Demonstrated ability to secure research funding and manage research projects.
  • Experience in curriculum development and program management.
  • Strong commitment to mentoring and advising students and colleagues.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in leading or contributing to significant research projects or interdisciplinary initiatives.
  • Expertise in emerging areas of computer science and engineering such as artificial intelligence cybersecurity or data science.
  • Proven leadership in academic service or professional organizations.

Work Environment:

  • The role involves working in an academic setting which may include offices classrooms and laboratories.
  • The position may require occasional evening or weekend commitments for meetings conferences or special events.
  • Participation in departmental and institutional events including open houses graduation ceremonies and faculty retreats.
