Environmental Officer - Durban

Introduction

Our clients is a nationwide hazardous waste management and environmental remediation company who is seeking a Environmental Officer in Durban KZN.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Ensure company complies to relevant environmental legislation
• Management of environmental emergency incidents
• Management of historical contamination
• Management of uncontained spillages
• Providing internal environmental guidance and recommendations
• Conduct site visits collecting data to establish a baseline condition for levels of pollution or contamination for a site or areas of consideration
• Technical Report
• Communicating with clients regulators and subcontractors
• Adhoc duties

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Experience with Environmental/Contamination Site assessments
• Environmental Science/Geohydrology/Geology degree
• Skilled in Microsoft Excel Word and SharePoint
• Own Vehicle
• Detailed experience and knowledge of the relevant Acts is beneficial
• National Environmental Management Act (Act No. 107 of 1998)
• National Environmental Management: Waste Act (Act No. 59 of 2008)
• National Water Act (Act No. 36 of 1998)

Package & Remuneration

• Fixed term contract
• Location of Office: Durban
• Hours: 07h30 to 16h30 Monday to Friday and one Saturday per month
