Job Description

Our client is seeking a skilled Automation & Electrical Engineer to join their Engineering Services department offering an exceptional career opportunity at either their Buffalo NY or Erie PA locations. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead project management and provide technical guidance for the design and implementation of projects related to pipeline measurement process and compression activities.
  • Participate in all phases of project scopes including bid specifications cost estimation project design material procurement drawing reviews inspection and technical support during construction and commissioning. Handle job completion requirements for electrical and automation projects.
  • Engage extensively with stakeholders vendors engineering firms and construction companies to ensure project success.
  • Design support and evaluate automation and control systems to ensure safe and efficient facility and pipeline operations. Participate in startup commissioning and resolution of open issues.
  • Administer and develop AVEVA/Wonderware Historian Tier 1 and Tier 2 systems including server setup troubleshooting and maintenance. Manage communication protocols with remote facilities and provide training and system access support to internal personnel.
  • Play a key role in developing technology to enhance system reliability at facilities. Collaborate with teams to implement industry metrics and KPIs using Operational Technology integrated with Historian systems. Develop reports for stakeholders and leadership ensuring compliance with regulations.
  • Provide direct support for programmable logic controllers (PLC) distributed process control systems (DCS) humanmachine interfaces (HMI) Historian data logging and reporting and associated Operational Technology (OT) equipment and systems.
  • Contribute to the development of process flow diagrams piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID’s) and electrical and automation drawings. Ensure electrical design including power systems and integration of classified areas adheres to code compliance. Oversee electricians and field technicians during new installations and troubleshooting. Coordinate and communicate directly with Automation & Electrical Specialists.
  • Design and install telemetering systems for integration into the SCADA system.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to apply current system security engineering methods practices and technologies to the architecture design development evaluation and integration of OT systems and networks ensuring appropriate security and risk mitigation.
  • Support various projects related to sustainability emissions reductions and technology enhancements while fostering innovation and establishing standards for new systems.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • ABETaccredited Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology. Other engineering degrees may be considered based on relevant experience in Operational Technology.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in Controls and Automation Engineering.
  • Experience in PLC programming HMIbased control systems data communication and network systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills proven technical abilities and proficiency in computer skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Exceptional time management and multitasking abilities.
  • Prior project management experience is preferred.
  • While this position requires travel to company facilities and project sites throughout Western NY and Northwest/Central PA overnight travel is limited.
