Sr Accountant

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in the agriculture industry. The Senior Accountant will play a pivotal role in managing and overseeing our financial operations ensuring accuracy compliance and the integrity of financial data. This role requires a deep understanding of accounting principles strong analytical skills and experience in the agricultural sector.

Key Responsibilities:

• Financial Reporting: Prepare and review accurate financial statements including balance sheets income statements and cash flow statements ensuring they are in compliance with GAAP.
• General Ledger Oversight: Maintain and oversee the general ledger ensuring all financial transactions are recorded correctly and reconciled on a regular basis.
• MonthEnd Close: Lead the monthend and yearend closing processes including journal entries accruals and account reconciliations.
• Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts and monitor actual performance against projections providing variance analysis.
• Cost Accounting: Manage and analyze cost accounting processes particularly as they relate to crop production harvesting and inventory management.
• Compliance & Audit: Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and prepare for internal and external audits providing necessary documentation and support.
• Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis to identify trends variances and areas for improvement and provide recommendations to management.
• Tax Preparation: Assist with the preparation of tax returns and ensure timely filing while staying up to date with changes in tax laws that may impact the company.
• Internal Controls: Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure the accuracy of financial data.
• Team Leadership: Mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting staff fostering a collaborative and highperformance environment.
• Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline and improve accounting processes enhancing efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field. CPA certification preferred.
• Experience:
  • Minimum of 57 years of progressive accounting experience with a focus on the agriculture industry.
  • Strong knowledge of cost accounting inventory management and financial reporting.
• Skills:
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. SAP Oracle QuickBooks) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problemsolving abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fastpaced environment.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and other relevant accounting standards.
• Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with ERP systems and accounting practices specific to agriculture.
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations affecting the agriculture industry.
