Linux Engineer

Job Overview:

We are looking for a highly skilled Linux Engineer to join our IT team. The Linux Engineer will be responsible for managing deploying and optimizing Linuxbased systems and servers across our organization. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Linux systems administration strong problemsolving abilities and a passion for automation and opensource technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Linux Server Management:
  • Install configure and maintain Linux servers including Red Hat CentOS Ubuntu and other distributions.
  • Manage system services such as DNS DHCP NFS Samba and other networkrelated services.
  • Perform regular system updates patch management and security configurations.
• System Optimization & Troubleshooting:
  • Monitor system performance identifying and resolving issues to ensure optimal operation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to Linux systems and associated services.
  • Implement best practices for performance tuning system reliability and high availability.
• Security & Compliance:
  • Ensure the security of Linux systems by implementing appropriate security measures including firewalls SELinux and intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS).
  • Perform regular security audits and vulnerability assessments addressing any identified risks.
  • Maintain compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations.
• Automation & Scripting:
  • Develop and implement automation scripts using Bash Python or other languages to streamline system management tasks.
  • Automate routine tasks such as system provisioning patch deployment and monitoring.
• Backup & Disaster Recovery:
  • Design implement and manage backup and disaster recovery solutions for Linuxbased systems.
  • Ensure data integrity and availability by managing backups restores and failover procedures.
• Collaboration & Support:
  • Work closely with other IT teams to support crossfunctional projects and initiatives.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to IT staff and endusers resolving escalated issues promptly.
  • Document system configurations procedures and troubleshooting guides.
• Continuous Improvement:
  • Stay current with emerging technologies trends and best practices related to Linux systems and opensource tools.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to system infrastructure and processes.

Qualifications:

• Education & Experience:
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 35 years of experience managing and supporting Linux systems in an enterprise environment.
  • Linux certification(s) such as Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) Linux Professional Institute Certification (LPIC) or CompTIA Linux is preferred.
• Technical Skills:
  • Extensive experience with Linux operating systems including Red Hat CentOS Ubuntu and other distributions.
  • Strong knowledge of shell scripting (Bash) and other scripting languages such as Python or Perl.
  • Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible Puppet or Chef.
  • Proficiency in network protocols and services including TCP/IP DNS DHCP NFS and Samba.
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as VMware KVM or Xen.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
• Soft Skills:
  • Excellent problemsolving and troubleshooting skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities with the capacity to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously with a focus on detail and accuracy.
