Consultant Rehabilitation Physician

The Role:
The department of Medicine is seeking a Consultant Rehabilitation Physician to provide specialist rehabilitation care services to patients as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure the provision of appropriate patient care.
You will be expected to provide professional leadership, provide training, education and supervision to medical students from universities, junior medical staff and other health care providers.

Rehabilitation unit is a 10-bed service - it cares for a case mix of predominantly complex neurorehabilitation patients, as well as providing a service for those who are unable to stepdown to other centres (i.e. complex medical or surgical needs, dialysis, etc).

The Hospital:
This is a level 2 hospital (354) beds with 24-hour cardiac intervention, trauma service, medical specialities including Respiratory, Nephrology, Neurology, Endocrine, Rheumatology, Oncology on site with visiting specialists in other disciplines.

To reflect the growing demand for health care in the region, the Hospital has been redeveloped at a cost of $408 million. The redeveloped hospital is a digital hospital, equipped with leading edge technology to assist staff to provide the highest level of care and comfort to patients. It is the first regional hospital in Queensland to have the complete integrated electronic medical record.

Mandatory qualifications/Professional registration:

• Registration with the Medical Board of Australia with Specialist registration and;
• Fellowship or eligibility for Fellowship of the Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine of The Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP)
