Job Description

Contract Type: Fixed Term 5 months Full Time 37 hours per week

Salary Range: 25465 to 29959 per annum

Location: Chelmsford (Hybrid working with 1 day per week in the office)

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Payroll & People Advisor with a strong understanding of statutory absence legislation along with knowledge of tax National Insurance and pension regulations (LGPS and Teachers). This role requires expertise in payroll systems particularly for user acceptance testing and resolving complex payroll queries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure accurate data input for payroll processing adhering to statutory and contractual requirements.
  • Resolve payroll queries within agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Handle payroll processes including payments and statutory reporting.
  • Safeguard the integrity and security of personal contractual and financial information.
  • Collaborate within the team to maintain highquality service delivery.
  • Provide timely and professional responses to customer enquiries via various communication channels.
  • Contribute to service improvements and participate in system testing.

Required Experience and Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Strong understanding of statutory absence legislation with additional knowledge of tax National Insurance and pension regulations.
  • Ongoing professional development in relevant areas ideally working towards a CIPP qualification.
  • Experience using payroll systems to deliver a highquality service.
  • Proficient in payroll processes including statutory payments deductions and pension schemes.

Desirable:

  • Experience working in a customeroriented environment providing policy advice and seeking continuous service improvement.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to listen empathise and respond effectively in both written and verbal formats.
