What you will be doing:

• Prepare daily reports for all construction activity and obtain and document all materials tags during construction.
• Supplement inspection records with photographs.
• Track deficiencies and nonconformance and their corrective actions documenting in the Daily Report.
• Attend project meetings as needed with clients and contractors throughout the duration of the project.
• Work in close coordination with material testing personnel and obtain and document testing records.
• Ensure that the contractors construction operations are being conducted safely in accordance with the projects Traffic Control Plan and CALOSHA Construction Safety Order.
• Administer the project to assure all elements of the actual construction are furnished installed and constructed in accordance with the Project Approved Plans and Specifications.
• Inspect the construction of all onsite and offsite improvements per contract.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

Experience you will need:

• Proficient in civil construction inspections.
• 2 years of experience as a public works construction inspector or 3 years of experience similar to that of a soil technician with public works field inspection responsibilities.
• Experience working on public works prevailing wage projects.
• Experience working on backbone infrastructure and wastewater treatment facilities recommended.
• 30hour OSHA Construction Safety certification preferred.
• Excellent managerial and supervisory skills.
• Extensive knowledge of job site safety.
• Journeylevel class with independence of action judgment and discretion in interpreting plans and specifications and enforcing local state and federal construction regulations.
• Experience with public buildings airport paving sidewalks accessible curb ramps mass grading concrete structures streetlights traffic signals landscaping and C.3 Storm Water Controls.
• Basic soils engineering principles.
• Any combination of experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying.
• Equivalent to completion of the 12th grade.
