Registered Nurse Job Description

Position: Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Chatsworth CA

Job Overview: The school is seeking a compassionate and experienced fulltime Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive health services to students with autism spectrum disorders ensuring their physical wellbeing and supporting their ability to succeed in the educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Health Assessments and Care:

   • Conduct health assessments and develop individualized health care plans for students.
   • Provide first aid and emergency care to students and staff as needed.
   • Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and school policies.

2. Health Monitoring and Record Keeping:

   • Monitor and document students health status maintaining accurate and confidential health records.
   • Conduct regular health screenings and immunization audits.
   • Ensure compliance with state and federal health regulations.

3. Collaboration and Communication:

   • Work collaboratively with educators parents and healthcare providers to support students health needs.
   • Participate in IEP meetings and provide input on healthrelated accommodations and services.
   • Serve as a health resource for school staff students and families.

4. Health Education and Promotion:

   • Provide health education to students staff and parents on topics such as hygiene nutrition and disease prevention.
   • Develop and implement health promotion programs and initiatives.
   • Conduct training sessions for staff on emergency procedures medication administration and chronic health conditions.

5. Crisis Management and Support:

   • Develop and implement emergency care plans for students with chronic health conditions.
   • Provide crisis intervention and support during health emergencies.
   • Coordinate with local health agencies and services as needed.

6. Infection Control and Safety:

   • Implement and monitor infection control procedures to prevent the spread of illnesses.
   • Ensure the school environment meets health and safety standards.
   • Conduct regular inspections and assessments to maintain a safe and healthy school environment.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of California.
• Experience working with children with autism spectrum disorders is preferred.
• Certification in CPR and First Aid.
• Strong knowledge of pediatric nursing school health services and public health principles.
• Excellent communication interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
