Role: Process Automation Engineer
Hours: Monday Friday with 1pm finish on Fridays
Contract: Permanent
Salary: 35K 40K
Location: Wednesbury West Midlands

We are actively seeking a Process Automation Engineer for our client based in Wednesbury in the West Midlands. This is an exciting challenging and diverse role where you will be based within the Production Engineering team and report to the Operations Director.

The successful candidate will have total responsibility developing new and maintaining older machines and will be required to have the following Qualifications/Experiences:

• Degree level or equivalent qualification in computer engineering or similar
• PLC programming and industrial automation
• Strong understanding of ladder logic control flow and PLC hardware architecture
• Proficiency in PLC programming languages such as AllenBradley Siemens or Rockwell Automation
• Experience with HumanMachine Interface (HMI) software and SCADA systems a plus
• Strong communication interpersonal and teamwork skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
• Understanding of legacy software such as QBasic would be a benefit but not essential

Principal Responsibilities

• Support the maintenance team when issues arise
• Develop new test equipment
• Implement lean improvements through automation
• Work with the Design team to productionise new Products assisting on handover
• Bring in new machines in controlled manner and help with integration
