Head Of Procurement

Our client specializes in general contracting for MEP Facade Construction and Design & Build projects. They are looking to hire Head of Procurement to be based in Chennai.

Role Overview:

The role will be responsible for overseeing the sourcing and purchasing of materials equipment and services necessary for civil construction and commercial interior projects. This role requires a strategic and detailoriented professional to manage supplier relationships negotiate contracts and ensure the timely and costeffective acquisition of highquality materials. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of procurement processes supply chain management and the construction industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Procurement Planning:

o Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with company goals and project requirements.

o Conduct market analysis to identify potential suppliers and evaluate market conditions.

Supplier Management:

o Identify evaluate and establish relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.

o Negotiate favorable terms pricing and contracts with suppliers.

o Monitor supplier performance and ensure compliance with contract terms and quality standards.

Material and Equipment Procurement:

o Oversee the procurement of construction materials tools and equipment necessary for projects.

o Ensure materials meet project specifications and quality standards.

o Coordinate with project managers to forecast material needs and avoid shortages.

Cost Management:

o Develop and manage procurement budgets and forecasts.

o Implement costsaving initiatives and strategies without compromising quality.

o Monitor and report on procurement expenditures and savings.

Risk Management:

o Identify potential risks in the supply chain and develop mitigation strategies.

o Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

o Manage and resolve issues related to delivery quality and contract disputes.

Team Leadership:

o Lead and mentor the procurement team promoting a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.

o Set performance goals and conduct regular evaluations of team members.

Process Improvement:

o Continuously assess and improve procurement processes and systems.

o Implement best practices in procurement and supply chain management.

o Utilize technology and tools to streamline procurement activities.

Collaboration and Communication:

o Work closely with project managers engineers and other stakeholders to understand project needs and timelines.

o Communicate procurement plans and updates to relevant departments and stakeholders.

o Ensure clear and effective communication within the procurement team and with external partners.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

Master s degree in Supply Chain Management Logistics or Business Administration.

Minimum of 810 years of experience in procurement with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the construction or interior design industry.

Demonstrated experience in roles such as Procurement Manager Procurement Officer or Head of Procurement .

Proficient in sourcing and procurement methods with a keen ability to analyse market trends.

Strong negotiation and contract management skills.

Excellent leadership and team management abilities.

Indepth knowledge of procurement and supply chain management principles.

Proficiency in procurement software and tools.

Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Skilled in networking.

Familiarity with supplier or thirdparty management software.

Strong decisionmaking and numerical aptitude.

Experienced in data collection and analysis.
