Who we are looking for

We are seeking a talented and motivated Data Engineer Intern to join our exceptional team and contribute to an exciting project exploring scalable solutions for feature group development in Python. This internship project aims to transition our inhouse dataset building software to the latest technologies improving performance and scalability in terms of speed and RAM usage.

Location

This is a fulltime position based in Modena Italy. Partially remote work can be arranged after an onsite onboarding period.

Main responsibilities:

• Conduct extensive profiling of the existing architecture to identify critical points in the current codebase.
• Implement feature groups using Pandas 2.0 Polars and Rust.
• Compare the performance of different implementations in terms of speed and RAM usage.
• Produce a comprehensive report detailing the differences and improvements introduced by the new implementations.

Requirements:

• Enrolled in or recently completed a degree in Software Engineering Computer Science or a related field.
• Proficiency in Python programming.
• Basic knowledge of data manipulation libraries such as Pandas.
• Interest in learning new technologies and programming languages such as Polars and Rust.

Soft Skill:

• Proficient in English both written and verbal.
• High degree of autonomy initiative and a proactive attitude.
• Strong team spirit curious mindset and a strong desire to learn and grow professionally.
