School Psychologist Job Description

Position: School Psychologist

Location: Chatsworth CA

Job Overview: The School is seeking a dedicated and compassionate fulltime School Psychologist to join our team. The successful candidate will provide psychological services to students with autism spectrum disorders supporting their academic social and emotional development. The School Psychologist will work collaboratively with educators parents and other professionals to create a supportive learning environment for all students.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Assessment and Evaluation:

   • Conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations to identify students cognitive emotional and behavioral needs.
   • Utilize a variety of assessment tools and techniques to gather information about students strengths and challenges.
   • Prepare detailed evaluation reports and maintain accurate records of assessments.

2. Intervention and Support:

   • Develop and implement individualized intervention plans to address students psychological and educational needs.
   • Provide individual and group counseling services to students to support their emotional and behavioral wellbeing.
   • Implement evidencebased strategies and interventions to promote positive behavior and mental health.

3. Collaboration and Consultation:

   • Work collaboratively with teachers parents and other school staff to support students academic and socialemotional development.
   • Participate in IEP meetings and provide professional input on students psychological and educational goals.
   • Serve as a resource for school staff on mental health behavior management and special education issues.

4. Crisis Intervention:

   • Provide crisis intervention and support to students and staff during emergencies.
   • Develop and implement crisis intervention plans and protocols.
   • Offer training and support to school staff on crisis prevention and intervention strategies.

5. Program Development and Implementation:

   • Develop and implement schoolwide programs to promote mental health and wellbeing.
   • Conduct workshops and training sessions for teachers and parents on topics related to mental health and behavior.
   • Stay current with best practices in the field of school psychology through ongoing professional development.

6. Documentation and Compliance:

   • Maintain accurate and uptodate records of services provided progress notes and student performance.
   • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations related to school psychology services.
   • Prepare and submit required documentation for Medicaid billing and other funding sources.

Qualifications:

• Master’s or Doctoral degree in School Psychology from an accredited institution.
• Valid California PPS Credentials as a School Psychologist
• Experience working with students with autism spectrum disorders is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of psychological assessment intervention and behavior management.
• Excellent communication interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
