Position: High Voltage Battery and Subsystem Cost Engineer
Location: Saltillo Coahuila Mexico
Job Summary:
The High Voltage Battery and Subsystem Cost Engineer reporting to the Cost Engineering Propulsion High Voltage Battery Manager is responsible for the design technical industrial and economic aspects of electronics and electromechanical components used in battery management systems battery disconnection units and battery thermal management systems. This role focuses on cost evaluation and designtocost strategies for electromechanical components in electrified vehicles including BEVs PHEVs HEVs and MHEVs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical and Economic Expertise: Maintain uptodate knowledge of power electronic design electronic components electrical pumps and battery disconnection units (BDUs) for BEVs through continuous engagement with stakeholders including engineering teams Tier 1 & 2 suppliers and other partners.
- Technology Insight: Stay informed on the latest advancements and technologies in the field.
- Data Management: Manage a structured database of procured parts detailing their technical and economic attributes.
- Cost Evaluation: Perform Should Cost analyses for Tier 1 parts including calculating the GWP (Global Warming Potential) impact using Price Breakdown (PBD) analysis.
- Crossfunctional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering project management and purchasing teams to ensure competitive process costs while meeting all technical timeline and quality requirements.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Since 5 years of professional experience.
- Direct experience in electronics and epump design.
- Technical Knowledge: Indepth understanding of power electronics architecture semiconductor and magnetics technology materials and PCB production processes. Proficient in die casting stamping and flexible printed circuit (FPC) processes.
- Education: Masters degree in Electrical or Electromechanical Engineering.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong teamwork negotiation skills and communication abilities with experience working in global teams.
- Language and Tools: Proficiency in English and MS Office tools.
Collaboration:
- With Tier 1 Suppliers: For technical negotiations and designtocost strategies.
- With Tier 2 Suppliers: For gaining technical and economic insights on electronic and magnetic parts.
- With Engineering: To support cost evaluations and designtocost initiatives.
- With Purchasing and Value Optimization Teams: To assist in technical negotiations with suppliers during sourcing and change management processes for both ongoing development and serial production.
- With GWP Team: For CO2 breakdown analysis and calculations.
