Job Description

Job Title: Assistant Controller

Location: Folsom California (Onsite)
Pay: As per Exp.

Job Type: FullTime
Unit Count: N/A

Job Summary:

The Assistant Controller will be responsible for supervising accounting staff ensuring the accuracy of financial statements and managing accounting processes related to property management. The ideal candidate will possess experience in real estate accounting strong problemsolving skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment. This role requires someone who can reassign priorities as needed and communicate effectively with various stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Accounting Supervision:

    • Provide training and supervision for all accounting department personnel.
    • Review monthly financials prepared by general ledger accountants.
    • Supervise manage and coach a team of 1015 general ledger accountants.
  • Audit and Compliance:

    • Schedule and assist with external audits liaising with audit firms property accountants regulatory agencies and FPI Management departments.
    • Ensure timely issuance of audited financial statements.
  • Customer Service:

    • Act as the main accounting contact for owners to ensure all client accounting needs are met.
  • Software Management:

    • Demonstrate knowledge and experience with accounting functionalities within Yardi Voyager 7.0 Entrata and RealPage.
    • Ensure efficient processing and generate custom reports as needed.
  • Operational Support:

    • Communicate and collaborate with operational departments within FPI Management to meet owner accounting cutoff and report deadlines.
  • Additional Duties:

    • Enforce community rules and regulations and FPI Standard Operating Procedures.
    • Comply with all Fair Housing Laws and FPI policies.
    • Promote a professional image by adhering to FPI Managements Dress Code Policy.
    • Perform functions as directed by the supervisor including special project assistance.
    • Meet all training requirements for the position (Grace Hill Safety Meetings etc.).
Qualifications:
  • Education:

    • Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • Experience:

    • Proven experience in accounting or finance.
    • Property management industry experience preferred.
    • Familiarity with digital (paperless) environments and proficiency in Google Apps (Gmail Drive Docs Sheets) Adobe Acrobat and basic Microsoft Office (Excel Word). Experience with Yardi and RealPage is a plus.
  • Skills:

    • Highly analytical with superb attention to detail organization and multitasking abilities.
    • Creative problemsolver with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Positive attitude and a passion for providing exemplary customer service.
