Job Description:

The Data Governance Specialist plays an integral role in managing an organizations data assets ensuring they meet company standards and compliance requirements Their responsibilities include

1Developing and Implementing Policies Creating and implementing data governance policies and procedures to ensure the integrity availability and confidentiality of organizational data

2Data Quality Standards Coordinating with data stewards and other stakeholders to establish and enforce data quality standards including accuracy completeness and reliability

3Data Catalog Management Facilitating the creation and maintenance of a data catalog that documents data sources data lineage and metadata to enhance data accessibility and understanding

4Compliance Oversight Overseeing data compliance activities ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory requirements related to data privacy and protection eg GDPR and CCPA

5Collaboration and Alignment Leading data governance meetings and committees fostering collaboration among business units to align data governance initiatives with organizational objectives

6Data Classification Designing and implementing data classification schemes to categorize data based on sensitivity and importance guiding appropriate data handling and security measures

7Performance Monitoring Monitoring and reporting on the performance of data governance initiatives using metrics and KPIs to assess progress and identify areas for improvement

8Data Literacy Advocacy Advocating for the strategic use of data by promoting data literacy and datadriven decisionmaking across the organization
