Licensed Practical Nurses School Nurse

We are hiring a Licensed Practical Nurses (School Nurse) for one of our clients in Fairfax VA.

Job Description:

• Providing compassionate nursing care as an LPN in postacute facilities in the area
• Monitoring residents physical and mental conditions and tracking their vital signs
• Performing resident intakes documenting their medical histories and any health concerns
• Helping with the administration and proper verification of medications tracking their use and effects
• Cultivating a comfortable safe facility for residents
• Tracking residents medical records and charts
• Assisting with the set up of IVs immunizations and phlebotomy procedures
• Keeping track of medical supplies and maintaining a proper inventory
• Being accountable to follow and adhere to resident care plans
• Working with staff in the orientation and training of new colleagues
• Provides care to sick and injured students
• Responds to emergencies
• Administration of daily and emergency medications
• Prepares medication for field trips
• Receives medication from parents/guardians
• Conducts Vision and Hearing Screening
• K 3rd7th10th New to Country
• Notify PHN of increase in sick visits to the Health Room related to potential communicable disease
• Experience with children
• Experience with procedures
• Experience administering medications
• Communicating with school staff and families
• Administering medications to students
• Perform medical procedures (G tube urinary cath)
• Administer stock medications including Epi Albuterol and Narcan
• Review student health information forms
• Complete vision and hearing screening
• Enter student BMI data
• Must successful complete all days of School Health Division orientation beginning August 5th
• BLS certification
• Available to work FCPS calendar
• 2 professional references

Education required:

• Current Virginia state license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
• Completion of approved Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) educational program
• High school graduation GED or equivalent
• At least 6 months of experience (LPN or similar role)
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
