Job Description

Main responsibilities

Relationship building

  • Establish and maintain an effective relationship between the local community
  • Build and foster an environment that supports community involvement continuous community engagement.
  • Provide community members with opportunities to express their concerns and raise issues.
  • Rally and build community spirit around the project.
  • Liaise with local community stakeholders on behalf of company
  • Engage and facilitate community meetings

Stakeholder engagement

  • Provide regular and timely information and project updates to the local community and relevant stakeholders.
  • Develop and regularly update of community profiles.
  • Update of stakeholder database on a regular basis
  • Report any community issues to the plant managers of that might affect the operation & management of the plant (service delivery protests community unrest etc)

Institutional arrangements

  • Liaise with plant managers & local government in terms of local job opportunities & other opportunities for the communities
  • Participate in Local government structures like LED forums IDP forums Youth forums Local business forums etc
  • Observe the United Nation (UN) development goals (Job creation poverty alleviation education sustainable livelihoods etc)

Qualifications and competencies

  • Masters/bachelors degree
  • Certificate in community development
  • General knowledge of local state government practices and provincial governments
  • Welldeveloped knowledge of local community cultures leaders customs and practices through prior involvement in the community.
  • An excellent knowledge of MS Office
  • 2 years in community experience in the following:
  • Socio economic development
  • Stakeholder management
  • Enterprise development
  • Formulation of strategies
  • Project management experience
  • Fluent in English spoken and written (and other languages if needed or ideal)
  • You are used to changing environments and to quickly meet new challenges
  • Must be able to work overtime according to operational needs
  • Must be available to travel extensively
  • Must have a valid drivers license
