Lead QA Engineer

We are seeking a Lead QA Engineer for a fulltime and direct hire role for one of our amazing partners in the Fort Lauderdale FL area. This is a hybrid role that will require you to work onsite 3 days a week. You will help build an exciting new product that will revolutionize digital marketing at a fastpaced startup under the umbrella of an established and successful business and leadership team. Responsibilities:

• Create testing and automation strategies and approaches that align with the companys goals.
• You will maintain all QA artifacts in the centralized repositories. That includes automation scopes and test suites and all technical and process documentation about the products and projects.
• Collaborate with product owners developers and crossfunctional teammates.
• Utilize develop and maintain automation scripts using Selenium with Java and BDD and incorporate them effectively into their products.
• Act as an escalation point for testing and quality assurance and operate as the primary point of contact for the QA teams.
• Prioritize all testing tasks and scenarios based on their importance and ask appropriate questions and escalations as needed to deliver the projects with high quality and low and acceptable defect rates.
• Provide test coverage with product expertise and a strong understanding of the user stories to articulate its value to the projects and customers.
• Utilize automation scripts efficiently for regression integration and functional testing to improve quality and reduce turnaround time with automation team support.
• Examine and confirm the traceability matrix in Testpad that links the requirements to the test cases.
• Determine load testing scenarios by using JMeter to integrate performance and load testing for both functional use cases as well as API.
• Evaluate and participate in meeting Platform and Product Support Service Desk tickets SLA.
• Continuous QA improvements on testing tools SDLC process test techniques and automation.
• Implement new testing techniques and test best practices for Cloud releases.
• Optimize and maintain the regression test suite for all applications.
• Take part in agile sprint ceremonies including standups story grooming and estimation sprint planning and retros.
• Support crossteam tickets for integration testing.

Requirements:

• At least 3 years experience in a Lead QA Engineer role.
• Experience in QA working on multiple projects with distributed agile teams
• Strong technical skills in both functional and nonfunctional manual and automation testing.
• At least 3 years experience in a continuous delivery environment using Selenium with Java or Python & BDD and JMeter.
• Experience with SDLC and QA methodologies software testing principles concepts verification and validation techniques and test management.
• Experience with complex SQL statements with advanced joins.
• Experience executing automation test scripts to validate the implementation of user requirements.
• Strong background with APIs and API testing tools like Postman.
• Strong knowledge of risk management risk identification and riskbased testing.
• Ability to analyze data and use testing metrics to find improvement opportunities.
• Good experience with cloudbased software development and technologies.
• Excited about understanding the business product and infrastructure components.
• Strong decisionmaking problemsolving and team and time management skills.
• Experience working in Digital Marketing or with B2B SaaS products is a nice to have.
• Experience configuring DevOps pipelines (Jenkins GitHub actions Bitbucket etc) is a nice to have.
• Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) including GKE and BigQuery (or AWS) is a nice to have.
• Bachelors degree in computer science Computer Engineering Software Engineering or equivalent is a nice to have.

My notes:

• Role: This QA Lead is a new growth role and will report to the Director of QA but will be primarily focused on the Centrifi side. They will be the only QA on that team for now but they will work closely with the other QAs on the Site Impact side as well. They will work with a team of 5 engineers and a product owner at Centrifi but they also have some people on the data side too. Centrifi is about to launch their product on 7/30/2024 so likely before this person starts. It is an endtoend sales enablement tool to help their agency partners sell locally and has the potential to disrupt the market in a good way. Its a platform that combines proprietary technology datadriven business intelligence and sophisticated digital marketing to enable large media companies and agencies to scale their focused ad sales effortlessly. This person will drive testing for this product and it will be a mix of manual and automation testing using Selenium. This role will be 50% leadership and 50% hands on and theres some builtin growth to potentially get promoted into Management role in a year or so. They still have to work in the office hybrid even though the Director of QA and a few others are remote due to shutting down their office after covid. The local team is great and having good communication to interact with them is key.
• Must have skills: They need QA Lead or Management experience to be able to make decisions but still be hands on. They need to have automation testing experience using selenium but still be ok doing manual testing since its just them for now. They need good communication skills to interact with the local team development team product team and with the offshore QA resources in India. They work around EST time zone and they have stand ups at 8:30am EST. No industry experience needed and they dont need experience in a LAMP/PHP shop.
• Fall short: They had someone great and everyone loved her but she lives between Jupiter and Port Saint Lucie and they are afraid shell get burned out and theyll have to replace her. Also making sure someone is ok working a hybrid onsite schedule when their boss and a few others are remote.
• Salary/Bonus: $105K$135Kyear salary plus 5% bonus.
• Interview: initial interview with the Dir of QA then inperson with 2 VPs on tech side and final inperson with Mike. If possible they will do all 3 inperson interviews on the same day for a 2 step process.
  • The Director of QA is Renuka Chandran and she lives in Alpharetta GA. They used to have an office there but closed it down after Covid. Her Linked In is Shes been with them since April 2021. Shes amazing and super smart. Shes Indian with a heavier accent.
• QA Team: They have a Director of QA 3 QAs and this would be the 4th and only lead. 1 person is local 1 is hybrid form north Florida and 2 are in GA (they shut this office down after covid so they work remotely. They also have and offshore QA team in India.

• Remote/Onsite: Most employees work a hybrid onsite schedule. Everyone is there on Tuesday and Thursday but has their choice of the 3^rd day (most choose TuesThur). Management is required to come onsite 5 days a week though.

Their reporting tool and dashboard will continue incorporating additional APIs as more integrations become available in the digital space. • Centrifi Overview: They are a division of Site Impact. This is their new product that they are bringing to market in July 2024 in an MVP format. It is an endtoend sales enablement tool to help their agency partners sell locally. It allows an agency to go to a dealership to find out their marketing spend for a month. They can then put in all the info they need in a proposal for them and use data that has worked in the past. They make a platform that combines proprietary technology datadriven business intelligence and sophisticated digital marketing to enable large media companies and agencies to scale their focused ad sales effortlessly. They took inmarket audiences and merged that data with analytics from websites and digital media to bring a game changer to digital media.
• Company size: 65 employees (as of May 2024) but they want to add 20 more in the Summer of 2024.
• Site Impact IT Team: They have about 30 full time technical people at Site Impact plus 24 offshore in India through their partner called Benchmark IT. Benchmark IT is also doing a software architecture upgrade for them to help with their campaigns. Internal team consists of QAs developers infrastructure etc. They have 4 dev teams each have their own directors. Directors need to be hands on 30% of time. Roughly 1416 developers 45 QAs 4 infrastructures and a scrum master.
• Centrifi IT Team: They have a team of 5 engineers a product owner and a BA They just added a Data Scientist and are now adding a Data Engineer and QA Lead. They will also be adding a Data Analyst. They are all local.
• Tech: They were a LAMP shop with Vue Vue JavaScript jQuery PHP (Laravel or cord ignitor or symphony). They had MySQL on the backend and were all Linux. They use Google Cloud (GCP).
• Remote/Onsite: Most employees work a hybrid onsite schedule. Everyone is there on Tuesday and Thursday but has their choice of the 3^rd day (most choose TuesThur). Management is required to come onsite 5 days a week though.
• Benefits: They start on the 1^st of the month following 30 days. They offer unlimited PTO health/dental/vision for employees covered at 97% with 3 tiers of service to choose from. After 90 days they have a 401K that you are automatically enrolled in. They match 3% of your first 50% for your first 2 years and then it grows to match 100% of your first 6% after 5 years (I believe).
• Staffing: They do work with a few firms. Most are at 20% and some have executives at 22%. We charge 20% for roles under the Director level and 25% for ones Director and above. They have a 48 hours feedback rule to review and get back to us on candidates.

Hes a handson technical leader and innovator with extensive experience in designing building and delivering industry leading software products using leading edge technologies and software development techniques. Strong indepth knowledge of Application Development and Deployment in SaaS environments. Advanced level System Administration and Design in Windows Server SQL Server/MySQL Exchange Server VMware vSphere and AWS/LAMP environments. Led many successful CRM/ERP implementations including SAP Business One Dynamics Salesforce and NetSuite. Proven track record of managing key account relationships and largescale projects. Agile Practitioner / Certified Scrum Master (CSM) / Certified Product Owner (CPO).

• Personalities: They do a lot of engagement with the team and fun activities and the company wants everyone to participate. The tech team is an island of misfit toys with a variety of personalities but they have a friendly team and are very team motivated. They want to work together and are very collaborative. They like someone who is friendly not shy and not a corporate rebel. Someone who can raise their hand when there is an issue rather than waiting for it to be uncovered. Someone who is not afraid to make a mistake but is forthcoming and honest when something doesnt work. The CTO doesnt like surprises and wants to be made aware if there are any issues.
