Job Description

Role: WiFi Network Engineer

Location: Costa Mesa CA

Contract

Musthaves:

  • Aruba Networking Wireless Access Points
  • SDLAN
  • Corning ONT

Description :

  • Active Wireless Survey for discovery which will help identify we may outsource this itself. depends on bill rate vs what outside companys charge. its straightforward work so will likely do whatevers cheaper.
  • Optimize AP placement based on wireless survey
  • This encompasses: Drop down ceiling heights removal of APs placed behind airducts/interfering material and turning off unnecessary APs causing channel overlap
  • Identify saturated channels caused by rogue devices/ssids
  • Possible removal of 2.4ghz band from wireless since all managed devices should be 5ghz capable.
  • Deploy 6ghz band
  • Increase channel size across APs (currently set at 20Mhz). Formalizing wireless operational procedure to improve troubleshooting and response and allow for Service Desk to assist with identifying and resolving wireless issues faster.

Corning improvements:

  • Create a plan to distribute the Corning ONTs that have wireless access points connected across multiple SDDPs within the same IDF to improve resilience during an SDDP outage
  • Work with Corning engineers to determine what can be done to improve the performance of the SDLAN solution deployed to HQ.
  • Deploy a wireless monitoring solution to quickly ID future issues
