DevOps Engineer Lead

The Role

As the lead member of the DevOps Team you will focus on leading the team maintaining our existing infrastructure and the progressing our vast Cloud estate. You will be required to deliver on our key infrastructure transformation projects within AWS and support the improvement of our evolving solutions. Supporting and improving our technical software development staff will play a key aspect of the role ensuring continued and sustained improvements in our hosting and DevOps capabilities. Working in partnership with the Product and Technical delivery teams you will be central to supporting our business strategy to build the hosting foundations that meet the business needs and keep products commercially viable.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

• Own and develop delivery planning and agile processes across multiple projects with a core focus on Junipers infrastructure aspects located on premise with 3rd party providers and in the public Cloud.
• Report on monthly spend of infrastructure and look for cost benefits where possible.
• Utilise a combination of technical ability team collaboration and risk mitigation strategies to ensure that product stability is prioritised.
• Act as a handson member of the Engineering team providing development server administration as well as other technical input where required.
• Support the wider organisation in creating effective migration and endoflife plans for products.
• Ensure that statutory requirements (including statutory return deadlines and changes in legislation) are appropriately supported by the products.
• Work with Engineering teams to create credible and pragmatic strategic and operational plans that align highlevel deliverables with commercial milestones.

• Work with the Engineering Leadership Team to ensure that we are effectively making use of technology evaluating new technology and that teams are developing in line with our strategic aims.
• Take ownership of delivery and ensures plans progress risks and issues are transparently reported and communicated to Juniper stakeholders.
• Assist with the integration of acquired products and staff into the development organisation.
• Undertake line management responsibilities including performance management and recruitment of technical staff.
• Provide specialist support coaching and review to DevOps and Engineering teams.
• Interface with the product and operations teams providing clear reporting and escalation of any issues.
• Manage a common set of outputs/KPIs/measures through which we assess the endtoend maturity and timeliness of our projects.

Key Attributes

• Proven experience in managing multidisciplinary team of infrastructure engineers
• At least 5 years in an Infrastructure engineering role managing AWS environments.
• Strong experience in migrating legacy systems into AWS.
• Strong experience working with multiple legacy operating systems including Google Azure hosting and Open Source OS environments.
• Excellent knowledge of Agile development principles including SCRUM and Kanban.
• Strong knowledge of monitoring tools
• Strong knowledge of Infrastructure security configuration and tools to ensure Juniper systems are safe and secure.
• Strong knowledge of virtualisation tools Cloud Compute
• A strong DevOps background with robust engineering principles.
• Previous experience of providing input and oversight for product and technical designs at both implementation and conceptual levels.
• Prior experience delivering Cloud and SaaSbased solutions.
• Prior experience working with a mixture of legacy and greenfield projects with an understanding of the tradeoffs between refactoring and redevelopment.
• A passion for using technology to solve real user problems.
• A strong command of written and spoken English with the ability to articulate technical concepts to different groups of stakeholders.

Knowledge of foreign languages:
Proficiency in English at least level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
