The Johns Hopkins Hospital a 1051 bed academic medical center and the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine are the major components of the Johns Hopkins Health System a vertically integrated multiinstitutional system for medical services delivery. It was one of the first nonprofit academically based healthcare systems of its kind in the country. The Department of Pharmacy consistent with the mission of Johns Hopkins Medicine places a priority on teaching research and patient care. At Johns Hopkins Hospital the department is responsible for providing acute care pharmacy services for a diverse population of medical and surgical patients with additional services provided within the Johns Hopkins Outpatient Center and affiliated clinics. Within the department there are 70 acute care and primary care clinical pharmacy specialists as well as 32 general and specialized pharmacy residents.
The Clinical Pharmacist IIA will be responsible for providing both distributive and clinical pharmacy services in both inpatient and ambulatory oncology infusion settings. This position reports to the Division Director of Pharmacy and works collaboratively with the multidisciplinary health care team to promote wellness maintain current health and/or intervene in acute or chronic illness. They promotes the safe and effective use of medications by consulting with other health care professionals concerning problems and instructs patients and families on their medications and provides education to patients students residents pharmacists and other healthcare practitioners.
