Accountant Sr Accountant

Our Client is a Multi National Company well known for their premium brand in the automotive industry. They are looking for a qualified Accountant to be part of their Global Finance Delivery team. As an Accountant/Sr Accountant (Accounting Business Partner) you will primarily be responsible for partnering with business and lead all general accounting and specific tax related activities according to business need and local regulatory requirements. You will lead the monthly book closing process to ensure timely reporting with high quality. Part of your role will require you to engage all stakeholders (multiple business and finance teams) to make sure that financial statements represent complete business operations.

You will also be expected to extend your support beyond area of responsibility at times and have an overall ownership mindset. You should be very comfortable in a multicultural environment.

In addition you will also need to drive finance related projects and communicate and collaborate with other national sales entities in Asia Pacific to facilitate business and its growth agenda.

As part of constant change your role may change overtime towards wider accounting or process or people leadership responsibilities or as per organizational priorities

Main responsibilities

• Support Head of Accounting and Head of Finance Cluster on adhoc basis in managing accounting process and tasks; provide adhoc analysis and help solve operational issues.
  
• Partner with business and advise on daytoday accounting and more complex accounting questions including and specially during change of business process. You will have access and may be supported by external consultant when needed.
  
• You will also be expected to liase with commercial team on finance matter and provide adhoc analysis to business and group when needed.
  
• Lead the entire audit process from planning to execution till final audit close and signoff.
  
• Prepare statutory financial statement according to IFRS and/or local GAAP requirements. You will have access to external consultants/advisors for complex treatments and disclosures.
  
• Lead and perform monthly financial book closing processes and ensure timely group reporting with good quality.
  
• Compute and post key provisions and accruals in alignment with business teams.
  
• Identify and lead improvement initiatives and process development in areas of responsibilities. Engage team members for unified efforts.
  
• Work with colleague from other parts of the word to share experience and support their transformation initiatives.
  
• Measure and follow up the quality and efficiency of global processes KPIs.

Desired Qualifications

• Fluent in English and Japanese languages (must have native level speaking and writing skills).
  
• Working experience with Japan accounting and finance environment is essential to this role.
  
• University degree in Finance & Accounting or equivalent (Formal Accounting Qualification will be an advantage).
  
• Around 8 years of experience in corporate/management accounting preferably from automotive industry.
  
• Knowledge of finance processes and policies and ability to apply them in the daily work.
  
• Experience or knowledge of tax system and accounting practices in Asian markets will be a big advantage.
• Proficient in Ms Excel and other Ms Office applications Preferred.
  
• Experience and Expertise in SAP Preferred.
  
• Working knowledge of Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) Preferred.
  
• Working knowledge of SharePoint Preferred.
  
• Assistance will be provided for relocation to Malaysia for overseas candidates.
