Job Description

As an Insurance Specialist you will be responsible for verifying active medical coverage for patient visits through communication with insurance companies and using relevant online portals. You will ensure authorization and referral requirements are met and maintain accurate and uptodate insurance information in the system before patient appointments.

Focus on Excellence: Your Role in Clearer Vision

Insurance Verification:

  • Verify active medical coverage for patient visits through communication with insurance companies and relevant online portals.
  • Confirm authorization and referral requirements.
  • Ensure all insurance information is accurate and uptodate in the system before patient appointments.

Patient Cost Estimation:

  • Calculate and document estimated outofpocket costs for patients based on their insurance coverage and the services to be rendered.

Nextgen Practice Management System:

  • Learn and efficiently navigate the Nextgen practice management system.
  • Manage insurance payer information.
  • Input and maintain accurate patient insurance details within Nextgen.

Insurance Payer Updates:

  • Ensure the accuracy of payer information to avoid billing issues and delays.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with the billing department and other administrative staff to ensure a seamless verification process.

Compliance and Documentation:

  • Maintain thorough documentation of all insurance verification processes and communications.
  • Adhere to all relevant regulations and guidelines to ensure compliance with healthcare and insurance standards.

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in healthcare administration or related field is a plus.
  • Familiarity with US insurance companies and healthcare insurance policies.
  • Experience in insurance verification or related administrative role in a healthcare setting.
  • Proficiency in using practice management systems.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Detailoriented and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
