What You Will Do

The Business Development Manager Kroger role is the expert and key strategic connection to the Kroger client relationship. You will elevate the Alliance brand and will support and enable the support and enable the SVP of National Teams the VP of Sales for Kroger and Account Executives in maintaining positive and productive relationships at all levels within Kroger.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a strategic partner for the Kroger relationship understanding and supporting their gotomarket business strategies ensuring customer expectations for new products and partnership programs are met.
  • Collaborate with Kroger to develop initial trade plans tailored to assigned markets ensuring alignment with market needs and client objectives.
  • Identify and share business development insights and initiatives with Area Account Executives and Kroger to drive accelerated sales and market share growth.
  • Review monthly client scorecards providing additional valueadded insights to key stakeholders to enhance Kroger relationships and performance.
  • Conduct quarterly reviews of Kroger and customer sales data to ensure business requirements such as sales units and profit goals are achieved.
  • Share key customer Omni platforms to deliver incremental sales and enhance Kroger’s annual base customer trade plan.
  • Proactively manage category POG review timelines communicating timelines to stakeholders to ensure mutual preparation for category review sales presentations.
  • Assist the Area Sales Director and Account Executives in scheduling formal new item planning meetings with key stakeholders at Kroger including buyers directors and senior leadership.
  • Develop comprehensive customized presentation proposals in collaboration with the Director AE and Kroger.
  • Maintain regular contact with all levels at Kroger to establish business relationships review customer expectations and timelines develop trade plans and provide detailed customer contact reports and readiness checklists.
  • Convert business from competitors using a strategic customerfocused approach

Who You Are

The ideal candidate for this role is a proactive and strategic thinker with a strong background in sales and client relationship management within the CPG industry and Kroger. You should possess excellent communication and analytical skills to understand client needs develop tailored trade plans and provide actionable business insights. You’re excited to leverage your strong partnerships and passion for the business to help develop our business within Kroger.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with or for Kroger at the corporate level with strong relationships in place is required
  • Minimum of 4 years of CPG/Retail B2B Sales experience preferably with a food & beverage broker
  • Ability to analyze data and make recommendations from the results
  • Proven trackrecord in sales presentations development and closing skills
  • Must be tech savvy with a high degree of proficiency in Windows and related software applications including Outlook Excel Word PowerPoint database management client/customer portals etc.
  • Ability to read and understand promotional planners
  • Must possess excellent organization skills and have a proven track record of meeting deadlines
  • Ability to make presentations coupled with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attentive to details and high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to effectively communicate and interact with peers and management teams
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Must possess a valid driver license and reliable transportation as the position will require travel to multiple sites
  • Must have the ability to travel (including overnight(s)) up to 25% of the time
  • BA/BS from an accredited college or university preferred or equivalent work experience

Location:

  • This role can be inoffice hybrid or remote and candidates should be located in Cincinnati OH.
