Responsibilities:

• Providing special educational settings and programs for special education students
• Teaching basic perceptual and academic skills based on the students Individualized Education Program (IEP)
• Instructing students with academic needs related to their ability including those who exhibit behavioral neurological and social/emotional needs
• Providing individualized and smallgroup instruction in academic areas and other relevant skills
• Developing student competencies in personal hygiene social skills physical development safety skills and vocational awareness
• Supporting integration of students into regular classrooms when appropriate
• Writing IEPs and annual reevaluation reports for each student
• Attending workshops staff meetings inservices and professional development and training

Qualifications:

• Experience teaching and working with special education students is desirable
• Education Specialist Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Severe Credential or equivalent
• Bachelors degree
