Job Description |
What you will be doing: - Develop implement and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Collaborate with parents teachers and other educational professionals to create and review IEPs.
- Regularly assess and document student progress toward IEP goals adjusting plans and strategies as necessary.
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with special needs in both inclusive and selfcontained settings.
- Design and deliver differentiated instruction that accommodates various learning styles and abilities.
- Utilize evidencebased teaching methods and interventions to enhance student learning and achievement.
- Conduct formal and informal assessments to evaluate students’ academic social and behavioral needs.
- Interpret assessment results to inform instructional planning and decisionmaking.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress.
- Create a positive inclusive and supportive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and learning.
- Implement effective behavior management strategies to support a safe and productive learning environment.
- Adapt the classroom environment to meet the physical sensory and cognitive needs of students.
- Collaborate with general education teachers support staff and administration to ensure a cohesive approach to student education.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings including IEP meetings to discuss student progress and develop action plans.
- Maintain open and effective communication with parents and guardians providing regular updates on student progress and addressing any concerns.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in special education and instructional strategies.
- Participate in schoolwide training and professional development opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with all federal state and local regulations related to special education.
- Maintain thorough and accurate documentation of IEPs assessments progress reports and any required reporting.
Experience you will need: - Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Valid Michigan teaching certification with a Special Education endorsement.
- Demonstrated experience working with students with diverse learning needs preferably in a school setting.
- Strong knowledge of special education laws IEP development and instructional strategies for students with disabilities.
- Excellent communication organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team and independently.
