Responsibilities:
Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests on various biological specimens according to established procedures and protocols.
Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instrumentation to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results.
Prepare specimens for analysis including specimen handling labeling and processing.
Maintain laboratory records documentation and quality control measures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and accreditation requirements.
Assist with inventory management ordering supplies and maintaining adequate stock levels.
Participate in proficiency testing quality assurance activities and performance improvement initiatives.
Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others.
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure timely and accurate test results and facilitate patient care.
Qualifications:
Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) required.
Associates degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or related field from an accredited institution.
Prior experience working in a clinical laboratory setting preferred.
Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures techniques and instrumentation.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures.
Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Proficiency in using laboratory information systems and computer applications.
Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of patient information and upholding ethical standards.
- Collect specimens for laboratory examination through venipuncture, various culture techniques, etc. - Adhere to OSHA, CLIA, and Joint Commission regulations to ensure compliance and quality assurance. - Work independently without supervision or assistance, demonstrating proficiency and reliability. - Respond promptly to codes, traumas, and emergencies, providing immediate support as needed. - Operate and maintain laboratory instruments, ensuring proper functionality and accuracy of test results. - Conduct quality control procedures, maintaining documentation of all activities. - Keep accurate logs and records, including data entry and retrieval of patient results, as well as accession of patient specimens. - Report STAT results within 60 minutes, perform manual tests as required, and set up bacteria on appropriate media as needed.
