REGISTERED NURSE THEATER & RECOVERY
A theatre and recovery nurse typically provides care in the preoperative anaesthetic surgical and recovery phases. They may have specific responsibilities such as supporting the Anaesthetist acting as a scrub nurse or overseeing recovery. Specialized training in perioperative care is required.
To qualify as a theatre and recovery nurse you need to have the ff:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency).
- A minimum of 1824 months clinical experience in related specialties.
- A Bachelors Degree in Nursing (or equivalent).
- Additional qualifications such as a postgraduate certificate or diploma in perioperative nursing may be required
