Job Description

TwiddleU is a new microschool in Lilburn Georgia focused on the needs of both neurotypical and neurodiverse learners. We specialize in working with children on the Autism spectrum providing each child with a safe fun and engaging learning environment. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience and expertise in working with children who have behavioral issues and autism. This position involves creating and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) using evidencebased strategies and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to support students educational social and emotional development.

While we do follow the educational curriculum corresponding with their aligned grade levels this educator will have more control over how they teach delivery of projects and deliverables testing and more since we are an independent school.


Please Note: Since our hours are more flexible than traditional school models this job would be perfect for someone who is looking to be an educator outside of the traditional classroom who is looking to modify traditional curriculum a certified special needs educator who has moved to homeschooling and want to be with their children throughout the day someone who is retired or who has left the school system and not looking to work full time.


Responsibilities:
Instruction and Planning

  • Develop and implement IEPs tailored to the individual needs of students with behavioral issues and autism.
  • Design and deliver engaging differentiated instruction that meets the diverse learning needs of students.
  • Utilize various teaching methodologies and techniques to promote positive behavior and academic success.
  • Create lessons that are a combination of traditional education handson life skill training to include critical thinking activities STEM activities garden and horticulture and transferable skills which can be used in the future as they grow in order to sustain independent living.
  • Create a thriving and fun learning learning environment.

Behavior Management

  • Implement positive behavior support plans and interventions to address challenging behaviors.
  • Monitor and track student behavior providing regular feedback and adjustments to plans as necessary.
  • Collaborate with behavioral specialists psychologists and other professionals to support student behavior management.

Assessment and Progress Monitoring

  • Conduct assessments to determine students educational and developmental levels.
  • Regularly evaluate and document student progress towards IEP goals.
  • Adjust instructional strategies based on assessment data and student progress.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Work closely with parents guardians and family members to support student development and address concerns.
  • Collaborate with support staff and other specialists to ensure a cohesive approach to education.
  • Participate in IEP meetings parentteacher conferences and professional development opportunities.

Classroom Environment

  • Create a safe supportive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Utilize visual supports sensory tools and other resources to meet the sensory and communication needs of students with autism.
  • Foster a positive classroom culture that encourages student engagement and social interaction.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field. Masters degree preferred.
  • Certification: Valid state certification in Special Education.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of experience working with children with behavioral issues and autism is required.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of autism spectrum disorders and behavioral intervention strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement effective IEPs.
  • Proficiency in data collection and progress monitoring.
  • Patience empathy and a passion for supporting the needs of students with autism.

Additional Requirements
Fulltime inperson position; school hours are from 9am to 3pm.
