About the Opportunity:
FedTec is looking to hire an Infrastructure Architect for the Virginia Department of Transportation who will be responsible for researching planning and installing Enterprise Solutions that could comprise of networking or software technologies and supporting life safety systems that directly impact the public. The team is looking for a solid midlevel team member who brings 610 years of handson networking experience. The best candidate will be looking for longterm professional growth opportunities possesses a 4year degree in a computer science or other technology discipline and/or industry certifications. At a minimum a 4year degree in any discipline is strongly desired.

Work Location: Virginia Beach VA (Local candidates only)

Primary Responsibilities

• Requires experience creativity and multitasking to independently and collaboratively achieve department service and support objectives for the Transportation Operations Center. Individual is able to work without assistance; is able to manage medium complexity work efforts; has some industry experience; can provide limited leadership to others.
• The Infrastructure Architect is responsible for researching planning and installing Enterprise Solutions that could comprised of networking or software technologies and supporting life safety systems that directly impact the public.
• Assesses existing network software and current solutions and makes recommendations based on product specifications and best cybersecurity practices.
• Configures equipment and software to meet business needs trains others on the solution and documents the solution for ongoing support. Functions as part of a team on larger projects or individually provides the services on support visits or smaller projects.
• Provides technical support and assists with the design of Infrastructure solutions. Requires experience in the technical services and support field as well as experience in systems and network administration (DHCP DNS routers firewall etc.)

Skills:

• Certifications and 4 year degree is Must
• 10 Years of General Information Technology experience is Required
• 5 Years of Experience in Cisco Routing and Switching is required
• 5 Years of Experience in VLAN Management is required
• 2 Years Experience in Network Design Required is required
• 5 Years Experience in Subnetting Required is required
• 4 Years of Experience in Routing Protocols (BGP OSPF etc) is required
• 2 Years of Experience in Authentication (Radius TACACS etc) is required
• 5 Years of Experience in Firewall Administration is required

• 2 years of Experience with Network Security
• 2 years of Experience with DNS/DHCP
• 2 years of Experience Network Monitoring
• 2 years of Experience Network Cable Management
