Job Description

Mobile Health Team Inc. a staffing agency has an opening for a Certified Nursing Assistant(CNA)LTC. We are looking for someone with a passion for people.

Location: Wrangell AK 99929

Assignment Start Date: 7/15/2024

13 weeks Days 12hour shift 36 hours weekly guaranteed

To provide basic nursing care to nonacute and/or acutely ill residents while maintaining a safe and clean environment. Job requires lifting of patients/residents who are nonambulatory a regular intervals. Mentally requires a caring attitude in dealing with both acute and nonacute patients/residents and families on a steady basis. Job pace is rapid and there is constant pressure on the job to complete nursing assignments and answer patient call lights. Maintain accountability for all actions taken. Accept delegation from supervising LN. This position is covered under the Indian Child Protection Act.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Obtains nursing data through interviewing and observing residents under an LNs (Licensed Nurse) direction and review through tasks such as:
  • Documents observation findings that are consistent with other providers under an LNs supervision; provides general nursing care for the adult and geriatric population which may include but is not limited to bed bath oral hygiene combing hair back care dressing patients application of appliances for heat and cold; application of antiembolism stockings or SCDs; monitors and records temperature pulse respiration weight height blood pressure blood sugar pulse oximetry and intakeoutput measurements
  • Collects and transports specimens to correct departments; able to distinguish between normal and abnormal findings as identified in the patient care plan or data collection tools and reports abnormal findings to the LN and records findings as appropriate; reports (and when appropriate records) any changes observed in condition or behavior of patients/residents and unusual incidents.
  • Provides bedside care which may include:
  • Positioning residents lifting and turning residents assisting in the use of bedpan urinal or commode; answering call lights; making rounds to assigned residents; ambulates residents transporting them to and from various departments as required; assisting residents with meals or feeds residents; aids in handling and the care of residents belongings (including dentures glasses contact lenses hearing aids prosthetic devices etc.) throughout their stay; changing bed linen; cleaning over bed table and bedside stand straightening room and other general care as needed.
  • Assisting LN with readying a resident for transport from the department which may include but is not limited to making phone calls copying papers and charts and providing direct resident care.
  • Providing 1:1 care/sitting for residents when indicated for patient/resident safety.
  • Maintains a safe and clean environment by:
  • Preparing nursing areas and/or resident rooms and beds for receiving resident admissions transfers emergencies or discharges; assisting in cleaning utility rooms cleaning equipment and preparing for disinfection or sterilization; reporting equipment that is out of order reporting other problems to nurse manager or charge nurse; appropriately handles clean and dirty linen and stores supplies on the service area and other duties as assigned. Perform supply duties daily distributing and ordering supplies to maintain adequate stock levels in assigned units.
  • Disposing of all solid waste and infectious waste according to organizational policies and procedures.
  • Replenishing supplies in resident rooms and bathrooms as needed.

Unit Specialty

For Critical Access Hospital

  • Obtains 12 lead Electrocardiograms (ECGs)
  • Trains and performs the mechanics of Telemetry monitoring of patients within the inpatient unit.
  • Becomes a Point of Care Trainer within 3 months of obtaining CNA II
  • Crosstrains to additional areas of the hospital (Emergency Department Labor and delivery and Surgical Department) for the fluidity of staffing
  • Cross trains to the Senior Office Specialist (SOS)/ Ward Clerk position to understand and be able to perform the position in times of high census or vacancy.
  • Initiates and participates in a Performance/Process Improvement project within the unit.
  • Serves as a preceptor for incoming CNA staff and CNA students.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATION

Experience:

  • 1 year prior experience as a CNA preferred

Education:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required

Licenses Certifications and/or Registration:

  • Current full unrestricted CNA license in the state of Alaska
  • Current BLS
  • Must take and pass courses as specific to unit needs (i.e. POC/waived testing etc.)
  • PALS NRP ATT desired

EMR System: Point Click knowledge/experience preferred

Shift: Day shift 7:00 am to 7:30 pm

COVID19: Full Vaccination including Boosters required

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Must have the ability to react in a calm functional manner and make sound judgments within the scope of duties when taking care of ill patients/residents and in the event of emergencies.
